Día 12 O Cádavo a Vilar de Cas: Surprise, “una brasa”–I’m definitely not a vegetarian anymore!
This place came out of nowhere, a gem of a pension in the midst of country –cows and agricultural land…and, what a feast! Fresh lettuce and tomatoes from the garden, beef and pork from their farm…What amazing people we just broke bread with! THIS IS what the Camino is, or should be, or what I thought it would be…
Another José, Camino angel!
Casa Porciña Muñiz, José and his wife are the proprietors–
Met a couple of Americans that are here for two weeks just to do the Camino…August and Maraya… It’s a small world after all, they are from California as well! Weird, first Americans I’ve seen in a long time as Spain was closed up until the 7th of this month… I should get friends to visit me now instead of me going home!!
This etapa was mellow, 15km., A touch of rain, lots of rolling hills of green and mostly flat or downhill, it was like sleep walking!!
And then to arrive at this casa, we hadn’t wanted to spend so much money but the Albergue was all filled up… And wow, such company, feasting and vistas… So pleased!!
Tomorrow, Lugo…another 15km and a feria when we arrive, unless it’s too late but hopefully we can be witness to some of the celebration! For now, bedtime… Lots of wine and Orujo, the traditional alcoholic drink of Galicia…ay mi madre!
Tomorrow 15 km to Lugo, short but sweet, we’ve already done the most challenging bits, it’s less uphill and more downhill from here on out!
Good night, sleep tight… Don’t let the bedbugs bite!
