Day 4 from Salas and the albergue, Casa de Sueño, to Bodenaya 8km.
Another Camino angel today… More bananas, this time from the lady at the bar in Salas!
I loved Salas, it is a medieval town with a small tower and a gorgeous church.
We stayed in Casa de Sueño and slept like babies in the eco-built albergue constructed into the hillside… complete with rooftop garden.
Due to all the rave reviews we heard about the albergue in Bodenaya, we decided to make a short 8km day of it today.
The day was foggy, a slight chill in the air, perfect for walking up, up, up!
8km of twisting around the river, traipsing through farm land.
Reaching a crossroads, we decided to take the time to explore.
As we made the short trek downhill, the temperature dropped and the air turned more humid. There in front of us a beautiful trio of waterfalls; two kiddy waterfalls flanking the main fall.
It was the PNW, it was Ireland, it was the North of Spain… It was a magical fairy land no matter where!
In Bodenaya, population 32!!! David and Cecilia met us on the path, what gems! It’s like coming home, a super hippy home–once again, I’m reminded of Oregon, yet not — all in the same breath.
Two more Camino Angles, David and Celia, they win the highest honors for their open hearted generosity– welcoming us with a bowl of sopa de ajo and a slice of ‘welcome home’ along the trail!
Sopa de ajo Nasco warming up with a hearty bowl of sopa de ajo
I think we made the right decision to make it a short day today, some gems are worth veering off path for!

Tomorrow will be a much longer and tougher day– Today we relish our downtime in the company of interesting, compassionate and loving people!!
